Rafa Russo is a writer/director based in Barcelona. He studied screenwriting in London where he lived for several years.

Winner of the Best Screenplay Award at the Montreal Festival for “The Man With Rain In His Shoes” (aka “If Only”) , Rafa is a prolific writer with several produced features under his belt, his most recent being “REMEMBER ME”, a romantic comedy-drama, starring Bruce Dern and Brian Cox, currently in production.

His screenplay ‘THE MUJAHID’S BRIDE’, a political drama-thriller, is one of the four finalists of the 2018 Urbanworld Screenwriting Festival (sponsored by BET), taking place in New York in September.

After getting glowing reviews on the Black List website, this script has caught the attention of director John Curran (“The Painted Veil”, “Chappaquiddick”), who also loves another script of Rafa’s (‘MY OTHER LIFE’, a psychological drama/thriller) and would like to direct them.

Rafa has another spec script (‘INGENUE’, an intimate drama) optioned by L.A. producer Daniel Marc Dreifuss (‘No’, ‘Sergio’) and several scripts in development with producers in Spain and Argentina.

Rafa has just finished another spec script called ‘SEX LIFE’, an urban comedy-drama set in London with great commercial potential.

As a director, he has directed three shorts (one of which won a Goya, the Spanish equivalent of the Bafta’s, for best short) and one feature.

Rafa has also published a book of short stories and written a play.
