Jon S. Baird

Director

Jon S. Baird is a BAFTA award winning director. He has worked with numerous high profile producers including: Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger, Jim Carrey, Terence Winter and has directed a host of award winning actors including; James McAvoy, John C Reilly, Steve Coogan, Melissa Leo, Jamie Bell and Jim Broadbent.

Baird’s 2018 film Stan & Ollie was nominated for 3 BAFTA film awards and a Golden Globe. The movie was number one at the UK box office on its release and went on to make $25m worldwide from a budget of $10m. Baird also recently won best director at the BAFTA Scotland awards for Stan & Ollie.

His previous feature FILTH (2013), which he wrote, directed and produced, was based on the bestselling novel by Irvine Welsh and starred James McAvoy, Jamie Bell and Jim Broadbent. FILTH won numerous awards and is in the top ten highest grossing UK 18 certificates of all time.

Baird’s Television work includes HBO’s VINYL where he formed a fabulous relationship with Martin Scorsese, who has continued to be a mentor throughout Baird’s career. He also worked on Showtime’s I”M DYING UP HERE produced by Jim Carrey, where he directed Melissa Leo. Baird worked closely with another mentor of his Danny Boyle on Channel 4’s BABYLON, which was written by SUCCESSION creator Jessie Armstrong.

Most recently Baird directed STONEHOUSE for ITV a three- part drama starring Matthew Macfadyen as the disgraced British MP John Stonehouse who infamously faked his own death in 1974.

His most recent feature, TETRIS, about the battle for ownership of the legendary game, is in post for Marv Films and Apple, starring Taron Egerton.
