Magdalena is a playwright and a novelist. Nineteen Gardens, her first play written in English, was picked up from open submissions by Hampstead Theatre, directed by Alice Hamilton. The production was critically acclaimed. The Guardian called it a “gripping account of an illicit affair’s aftermath” and the Financial Times “a shrewd, sharp and silky piece”. It has also been published  by Methuen Drama

Magdalena has written several plays in her native Polish.

In English, as well as writing essays, features and reported pieces for the Financial Times and reviews for the Los Angeles Review of Books, she has written several short stories. One of these, The French Bulldog, was published in the Belfast literary magazine The Tangerine.

Born in Warsaw, Magdalena moved to London in 2017. Magdalena is working on a play Remittances about the fallout from a mother’s emigration from communist Eastern Europe to America to make money as an illegal worker.
