Ali Pidsley

Director

Ali is a freelance Director and Theatre-Maker from Yorkshire. He is the co-Artistic Director and co-Founder of Barrel Organ Theatre, and in 2019 he founded Holy What Theatre with Lulu Razcka and Imogen Clare-Wood. In 2014, he was the recipient of the Buzz Goodbody Award for Directing.

 

Recent directing includes Pops by Charlotte Josephine (Hightide, Live Theatre & Jake Orr Productions; Winner of The Stage Edinburgh Award 2019), A Girl in School Uniform (Walks Into a Bar) by Lulu Razcka (West Yorkshire Playhouse & New Diorama Theatre), Blasted by Sarah Kane (Styx Tottenham, RIFT Theatre), Some People Talk About Violence and NOTHING (both with Barrel Organ, Camden People’s Theatre, Summerhall in Edinburgh, and tours).

 

As Assistant/ Associate Director Ali’s credits include The Watson’s (Chichester Festival Theatre & Menier Chocolate Factory), Richard III (Headlong), Absolute Hell (National Theatre), Hedda Gabler (National Theatre touring production), Barnbow Canaries (West Yorkshire Playhouse), The Skriker (Royal Exchange & Manchester International Festival), The Chronicles of Kalki (The Gate), That Night Follows Day (Forced Entertainment) and The Economy of Ecology (Manic Chord Theatre).

 

Ali is proud to work as a selector for the National Student Drama Festival.

 

 

Ali also works as a dramaturg, script reader and workshop leader with youth and community groups.
