Brian Percival

Director

Brian is multi award winning Television and Features director. His first studio movie, The Book Thief,  based on the best selling novel by Marcus Zusak, starring Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson, was released in 2013. Karen Roselfelt was the producer and John Williams composed the score. He was lead directed on the multi award winning Downton Abbey, personally picking up a BAFTA and Emmy award for best Director. Recently he lead directed Dark Angel for ITV, as well as shooting the single film, A Song For Jenny, for BBC 1, a tragic drama based around the events of the 7/7 London Bombings. He currently lead director on Playground and C5’s revived All Creatures Great And Small.

 

Brian’s debut film ‘A Boy Called Dad’ was shown at the 2009 Edinburgh Film Festival, starring Ian Hart. It was released May 2010.

 

His debut short film ‘About a Girl’ won a BAFTA for the best short film 2002.

 

‘About a Girl’ also won Best Short Film Shine Awards 2002 National Museum of Film and Photography, Official Jury Selection Sundance Film Festival 2002, Edinburgh International Film Festival 2001 Winner Best British Short Film (shared), Raindance Film Festival London 2001 Winner Best Short Film, Official Jury Selection Kino Film Festival 2001, City Life Award for Best Short Film, Granada Television 2001 Best North West Short Film, Turner Classic Movies London 2001 Winner Best British Short Film.

 

Brian is also an award winning commercials director.
