David Leon is a Writer/ Director named by Screen International as one of their prestigious “Stars of Tomorrow.”
His short film Man and Boy won Best Narrative Short at Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Film Festival and was shortlisted for both an Oscar and a Bafta.
David’s debut feature Orthodox, which he wrote and directed, starring Stephen Graham and Michael Smiley was shortlisted for the Douglas Hickox award by Bifa for “Best Debut Director”.
He is currently in development with BBC Films on his next feature “Land of Hope and Glory” and adapting for Television the novel “You could do something amazing with your life” the account of the final days of vigilante gunman Raoul Moat with producer Daisy Allsop.
In addition to this he is working alongside BBH London/ Black sheep to adapt his short form documentary for Nowness about Ruqsana Begum, the only female British Muslim to be a world champion in any sport, into a narrative feature film and is also in development with “Driven” a feature, the script of which appeared on the Brit list.
David is an alumni of the Belinale talent labs.
