Dionne Edwards

Dionne is a screenwriter and director. Her debut feature PRETTY RED DRESS, starring Natey Jones, Alexandra Burke and newcomer Temilola Olatunbosun, was produced with the support of the BFI and BBC Film. PRETTY RED DRESS had its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival 2022 and was released in June 2023 to overwhelmingly positive reviews.

PRETTY RED DRESS follows Dionne’s 2016 short WE LOVE MOSES, which premiered at the BFI London Film Festival and went on to screen at over fifty festivals worldwide, including ABFF and TIFF, picking up nine awards. It has been licensed for television by Cine+, Canal+, HBO, Netflix and Disney+.

Dionne’s TV directing credits includes upcoming Disney Plus series: A Thousand Blows created by Steven Knight, starring Stephen Graham, Malachi Kirby and Erin Doherty. Netflix’s upcoming series: Everything Now, starring Sophie Wilde, Lauryn Ajufo and Stephen Fry.  In 2019, she was named a Screen International Star of Tomorrow. The same year, the Sundance Institute invited Dionne to both its Screenwriting and Directing Labs and subsequently named Dionne a fellow of the inaugural Women at Sundance Adobe Fellowship 2020/21.
