Gerald McMorrow is an award-winning British filmmaker. His debut feature FRANKLYN (RPC/Film4/eOne), a dystopian science-fiction produced by Oscar-winner Jeremy Thomas and starring Eva Green, Sam Riley, Ryan Phillipe and Bernard Hill, premiered in competition at the BFI London Film Festival ahead of an international theatrical release by eOne. His debut short THESPIAN X (RadicalMedia) won first prize at the Berlinale and the BFI London Film Festival before receiving a French theatrical release as part of anthology film ZÉRO DEUX (EuropaCorp), which featured segments from nine promising filmmakers, including Jalmari Helander (RARE EXPORTS, SISU). Recent credits include the award-winning science-fiction shorts EMBERS (Meanwhile Films), based on the Douglas Adams short story SIFTING THROUGH THE EMBERS, and HELL HATH ENLARGED HERSELF (Quiet Man), adapted from the Michael Marshall Smith short story of the same name, which is now in feature development. Gerald is currently developing period feature ITINERANT, inspired by the life of early twentieth-century middle-weight champion Stanley Ketchel, and various unannounced projects for production companies in the UK and US. His next feature FORT CLAITH (Sleeper Films), a thriller set in 1994 on a remote island off Ireland’s west coast, will be produced by IFTA-nominee Rory Gilmartin (CHRISTY, CALM WITH HORSES, HERSELF, ROSIE, THE LOBSTER). Alongside his narrative filmmaking, Gerald has directed music videos for artists including Catatonia, Baxter Dury, The Longpigs, Ultrasound, Space, My Vitriol, Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews, and commercials for agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi, WCMRS and DMB&B, for which he has been honoured by Live Green Earth, the Creative Circle and the British Television Advertising Awards. He is a graduate of the New York Film School.
