Hugh Mulhern

Hugh is a multi-award winning Irish director working in TV, Film & commercials. He started out in the industry working as a spark then found his way into editing but is now focused on his true passion, directing.

Hugh wrote and directed his film The Cyclops, which screened internationally and aired on RTÉ television.  In 2017 he got signed as a commercial and music video director by Irish production company Motherland where his commercials and music videos would go on to win multiple awards for artists such as Fontaines D.C. Hugh is also represented for commercial and music videos internationally by the acclaimed Riff Raff films. He recently picked up Best New Director at the UK Music Video Awards and the Young Arrows Music Video Direction for his latest work.

In 2022 he graduated from the NFTS with a masters in Directing Fiction and is developing his debut feature, It Comes In Waves, with Screen Ireland. Hugh’s work tends to focus on morally complex characters, naturalistic and nuanced performances with a considered visual language.
