Isabella is an award-winning British filmmaker, a member of BFI/Bafta Crew and BIFA Springboard, a Film Independent and New York Film Festival Artist Academy Fellow and recipient of awards from the Sloan Foundation and HFPA. Stand Still (2019), her award-winning Film London/BFI-funded short film about post natal depression, premiered at BFI London Film Festival 2019 and has played at festivals around the world. The film stars actor/writers Michelle Bonnard and Zoë Tapper. The Rain Collector (2015), her short film about women in science in Victorian England starring Hermione Norris, was called “a stupendous marvel of anxiety and restraint” and won awards at festivals around the world, and Waiting (2017), a short vignette set in a New York bathroom, was described as “a masterpiece of observation”. She wrote and directed two segments of the James Franco-produced Black Dog Red Dog (2015) starring Chloë Sevigny and Tim Blake Nelson. After getting her MFA (Film Directing) from NYU’s Graduate Film Program she worked at Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Cooper’s Town Productions, initially as a development associate, and later as Mr Hoffman’s assistant and Production Executive on projects for Showtime, Lionsgate among others, which adds to her knowledge and expertise of all areas of production, enriching her directing abilities.
Her current slate includes ‘THE WEEK DAD CAME HOME’, a feature film developed through Torino Film Lab, about a woman whose family comes together the week her father is released from hospice care to die at home, SPRINGTIME IN BROOKLYN, a contemporary coming-of-early middle age feature film about a female neuroscientist in development with award-winning New York production company Park Pictures and a UK-set feature film with BAFTA-winning and BFI Vision Award producer Emily Morgan. Isabella also recently directed several episodes of HOLLYOAKS back in May 2022.
