Jim is an experienced writer, director and editor working in dramatic comedy, commercials and TV. His debut feature film, HOSTAGES, stars Charlotte Ritchie, Tanya Moodie, Nicholas Asbury, Raj Ghatak and Luke Macquee, and is due for release in 2024.
His short films have screened at festivals around the world, including Sundance, winning an Honorable Mention In Short Film-Making, SXSW and the BFI’s London Comedy Film Festival, amongst many others. They have been Staff Picked by Vimeo, awarded a Silver at the 1.4 Awards, featured in Wholphin, Vice and on Short Of The Week. His TV comedy work includes directing the BBC3 Comedy Feed Hailmakers (starring Samson Kayo, Akemnji Ndifornyen and Jason Barnett) for BBC Studios, and the BBC2 sketch shows Sketchland and What’s Funny About The Indyref? for BBC Comedy in Scotland.
His high profile TV commercial campaigns including the launch of Greg James’ R1 Breakfast Show, a six-spot launch campaign for Maltesers Buttons, Smart Meters with Albert Einstein and Deborah Meaden, a launch campaign for Smarty Mobile, a film starring Seann Walsh for The Big Issue, and a spot for Denplan featuring Spencer Jones. He has directed numerous other TV and online commercials include work for Subway, Huawei, McVities,Cheerios, Philips, Comfort, Sunday World, Maxol and Rennie. Additional brand films: innocent drinks, Graze, Radeon, Janger, Howies, Vitamin Water, De Beers & Samsung.
