John Maclean

John Maclean is a Scottish Filmmaker, Artist and a founding member of The Beta Band and The Aliens. John started his filmmaking career making music promos, ranging from zero budget to £70,000, which were then released on DVD as The Best of The Beta Band Film (EMI). It was in 2009 that John wrote and directed his first short film, Man on a Motorcycle, starring Michael Fassbender. This fruitful collaboration led to his second short, Pitch Black Heist, starring Fassbender and Liam Cunningham which was commissioned by Film4 and won the 2012 Best Short Film Award at BAFTA. John then wrote and directed his first feature film Slow West in 2013, funded by film4, the BFI and NZ Film Council, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2015 and won the World Cinema grand Jury award. It was released in cinemas worldwide. John recently completed his second feature film called Tornado with Tea Shop/Hanway films starring Tim Roth, Jack Lowden, Takehiro Hira, and Koki. For paintings.
