Lia Williams was BAFTA-nominated for her short film The Stronger and won Best Short Film at Raindance; other short films include Feathers -highly commended at The London Film Festival – and Dog Alone for Sky Arts TV .  She also made a feature Documentary Nanobozhung , spending the best part of a year working with the indigenous Batchewana tribe near Lake Superior, Canada. Other directing credits include The Matchbox by Frank McGuinness (Liverpool Playhouse / Tricycle Theatre) which won Best Play at Off West End Awards, and Ashes to Ashes as part of the Harold Pinter Season in the West End.

A multi award-winning actor, her recent roles include Wallis Simpson in The Crown (Netflix), Kiri (Channel 4) , The Capture (BBC1), May 33rd (BBC1) for which she was nominated for Best Actress at BAFTA and RTS Awards, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (Donmar Warehouse), The Oresteia and Mary Stuart (Almeida & West End).
