Mark Brozel

Director

Mark most recently directed Borderline for ShinAwiL/Further South/Lionsgate, Signora Volpe for Route 24/AcornTV, Youtube Red’s flagship sci-fi show Origin, BBC and Netflix epic Troy: Fall Of A City, and the season finale of Humans 2.0 for Kudos, C4 and AMC. Other television credits include Dickensian, DCI Banks, and Peter Moffat’s widely-acclaimed contemporary retelling of Macbeth, starring James McAvoy, Keeley Hawes and Richard Armitage.

Mark’s film work ranges from the multi-award winning Holy Cross – the landmark BBC drama about two Belfast families caught up in violent protests across the sectarian divide – to ITV’s The Walk, starring Nicola Stephenson, Phil Glenister and Ralph Ineson and filmed over eight weeks in the Sahara Desert. He is currently attached to direct feature film thriller Quicksand, starring Jared Harris, Emily Watson and Toby Kebbell, and the contemporary thriller Ismael, starring Bill Pullman.

Mark has also directed and produced a number of highly-acclaimed documentaries for BBC Television and some two-dozen commercials. He helped to establish BBC2’s “Modern Times” strand with Streetwise, a wry celebration of the London cabbie; Cheryl’s Trial, the disturbing story of a modern day witch-hunt; and Cheating Hearts, a portrait of an unscrupulous New Jersey private eye and his clientele. His garlanded Mangetout, a documentary fairytale charting the vegetable’s journey from the soil of Zimbabwe to a Basingstoke dinner party, won an RTS Award, a One World Media Award, and was selected by the Chicago Museum of Broadcasting as one of their “Best Documentaries of the Twentieth Century”.
