Sir Greg Doran is a distinguished theatre director, recognised as one of the foremost interpreters of Shakespeare in his era.

Serving as Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company from 2012 to 2022 and Artistic Director Emeritus until December 2023, Doran directed numerous acclaimed productions, including Hamlet with David Tennant and Macbeth with Antony Sher.

His contributions extend beyond the stage with publications on Shakespeare’s works.

In 2002 he won the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement of the Year and in June 2012 he was awarded the Sam Wanamaker Award by the Globe Theatre, in recognition of his work in increasing the understanding and enjoyment of Shakespeare.

He was knighted in the 2024 New Year’s Honours for services to the Arts.
