John Fay is an award-winning British screenwriter, playwright and director. He is the creator and head writer of BAFTA-nominated period drama THE MILL (Channel 4/Darlow Smithson Productions) and three-part thriller miniseries MOBILE (ITV/ITV Studios). Episodic credits for British television include Paul Abbott’s twelve-time BAFTA-nominated contemporary drama CLOCKING OFF (BBC/Red Production Company), Russell T Davies’ DOCTOR WHO spin-off TORCHWOOD (BBC/Starz) and Jimmy McGovern’s BAFTA-nominated and RTS-winning anthology series MOVING ON (BBC/LA Productions), for which he also directed an episode. He has written more than 140 episodes of continuing drama for British television, including 94 episodes as lead writer of CORONATION STREET, for which he was awarded the 2005 BAFTA for Continuing Drama. Internationally, he wrote across two series of Frank Spotnitz and Nicholas Meyer’s historical drama MEDICI (Netflix/Lux Vide/Rai Fiction/Big Light Productions) – a major US-Italian co-production starring Dustin Hoffman, Brian Cox, Sean Bean and Richard Madden and broadcast in more than 190 countries worldwide – and all episodes of original Polish-language miniseries THE VAMPIRE OF SILESIA (HBO Europe), which was mothballed when HBO Max halted original production in Central Europe. He is currently developing an original idea for television with HBO Europe alums Johnathan Young and Ioanina Pavel through their Romanian production house May One, writing a feature film for award-winning Polish director/
