In 2008, John was one of seven writers selected by Paul Abbott to take part in his Voicebox Writers’ Studio pilot scheme for developing writers. The scheme was supported by Skillset and ran through 2009 with a focus on writer-led team writing for television. At the end of the scheme, John was one of two writers selected to continue an affiliation with the Writers Studio and worked there regularly through 2011.
