Jonathan Evans

Jonathan Evans is a versatile scriptwriter, working in drama and children’s TV, with around 185 commissioned scripts written. Work on soaps and continuing dramas includes story lining and/or scripts for Doctors, Holby, Family Affairs, Crossroads II and Finnish soap Secret Lives.  Jonathan is co-creator of cosy crime series ‘The Aegean Mysteries,’ currently in development with BBC Studios and Saffron-Cherry.

Jonathan was a core writer for all three series of BAFTA and RTS-winning Tracy Beaker Returns for CBBC/BBC2.  He has worked extensively in Europe in children’s animation, developing and writing for series on ZDF, RTL, Canal Plus and Netflix, and was part of the team who brought back cult live-action comedy Pan Tau to German TV, with an all British cast.  His comedy feature film Act Your Age got a UK Film Council development deal, having won the national ’25-words’ pitch competition.

Jonathan is a tutor on Oxford University’s Mst Creative Writing course.  His prose writing includes many Munchausenesque stories for literary angling magazine ‘Waterlog’ under the name Gainsborough Leach.  He also writes songs for his band, ‘Tumbleweed.’
