Shyam is a screenwriter from Leicester. He is a graduate of the NFTS Screenwriting MA, where he wrote CHA, longlisted for the Short Animation BAFTA in 2021. His pilot script EXODUS was nominated for the All3Media New Voices 2021 award, while ANIMAL SPIRITS, developed at Series Mania Institute’s Eureka Series, won FilmarketHub’s Online Pitchbox in 2022. Since then he has taken part in the 4Screenwriting scheme and has written episodes on THE DAY OF THE JACKAL for Carnival/Sky and HAVEN for Drama Republic/Amazon. He is now developing his own projects for TV, film and theatre. Outside of his writing Shyam helps run his family business, Popat Mithai, an Indian sweet shop.
