SIMON BLOCK has been a playwright and screenwriter since 1993. As a screenwriter he has written the television films THE SHOOTING OF THOMAS HURNDALL (Channel 4, UK – 2 BAFTA awards, 2009), THE EICHMANN SHOW (BBC, UK), and most recently THE WINDERMERE CHILDREN (BBC, UK – Prix Europa winner 2021 / nominated for Best Single Drama BAFTA, 2021); two series of HOME FIRES (ITV, UK); and many other television dramas, including the first episodes of NEW TRICKS (BBC) & INSPECTOR LYNLEY (BBC), LEWIS (ITV, UK), and most recently 1066 (Netflix). His stage work has been performed all over the world, includes adaptations of EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED and THE KNOWLEDGE, and has earned him nominations for the Evening Standard’s Most Promising Playwright and the WGGB New Writer of the Year.
